About us – ASLLUK

The Association of Sri Lankan Lawyers in the U.K. (“ASLLUK”) saw the light of day on 17th May 2003 when a number of far thinking senior Sri Lankan lawyers living in the UK brought their bright ideas together to establish a forum for lawyers of Sri Lankan descent. The primary objective of this Association is to provide for barristers, solicitors, trainees, law students and academics as well as for other law professionals of Sri Lankan origin a common platform where they could engage in social and cultural interactions as well as exchange ideas with a view to assisting each other by providing continuing education for professional development and through interaction with professional bodies such as the Bar Council, the Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

The membership of ASLLUK consists of all categories law professionals of Sri Lankan descent who include: Barristers, Solicitors, Attorneys-at-Law, Notaries, Paralegals, Trainee Solicitors, Law Students and Accredited Immigration Caseworkers who are all proud to be part of ASLLUK. OUR OBJECTIVES

To promote the welfare and interests of members of ASLLUK with the object of assisting the membership with continuing education and professional development in order to reach and maintain their required levels of competence and efficiency.

To organise continuing professional development (CPD) seminars, workshops, lectures and networking events with a view to facilitating the membership with high quality learning environment and resources required to gain skills, knowledge and experience needed to acquire and maintain competency in their chosen areas of law.

To promote social cohesion among law professionals by organising social and cultural events such as Law-Medical cricket and netball matches, events to mark X’Mas and Sinhalese-Tamil New Year and charity fund raising events.
